본고는 야담의 서사를 읽는 하나의 사례로, 『청구야담』의 서사공간에 주목하였다. 야담에는 대단히 다양한 지역공간들이 존재한다. 바로 야담에 그려진 이 공간들을 어떻게 바라봐야 할 것인가가 논의의 시작이다. 이에 서사적으로 완정한 야담집인 『청구야담』을 통해, 작품 속 실재 공간의 전체 양상을 조망하고, 서사공간의 구도와 특징을 고찰하였다. 이 과정에서 『청구야담』의 서술자가 서울을 중심으로, 다른 지역을 주변으로 인식하며 작품을 서술했다는 사실, 그리고 작품의 서사공간을 중심과 주변의 구도에서 보되, 개별 공간에 있어서는 안과 밖에 대한 인식을 분명히 했다는 사실을 밝혔다. 이는 다양한 지역에서 얻은 어떤 낯선 곳에 대한 궁금증에서 유발된 서술자의 작품 취합이며, 이야기가 서술된 본질적인 이유이다. 작품 속 서사공간은 중심과 주변의 상호적 관계를 취하는 가운데 밖의 공간에 대한 새로운 인식, 그리고 그곳에서 주인공의 문제를 해결하는 등의 역할을 했던 것이다. 이는 『청구야담』의 다양한 지역공간들이 이야기의 사건 및 인물과 유기적 관계를 맺으며 서술에 있어서도 일련의 의미를 지녔다는 증거이기도 하다.

This study set out to pay attention to the narrative space of 『Cheongguyadam(靑邱野談)』 as an way to read the narrative of Yadam(野談). Quite various regional spaces were introduced in Yadam. In the study, it was discussed how the spaces appeared in Yadam would be treated. For the above reasons, through the perfect Yadam anthologies in the narrative: 『Cheongguyadam』, the study reviewed the general aspect of actual spaces in Yadam and investigated the composition and features of narrative space. In addition, the study disclosed such facts that the authors of 『Cheongguyadam』 wrote Yadam regarding Seoul as center and other regions as periphery, and they recognized definitely the inside and outside of individual space, while the narrative space of work was handled under the composition of center and periphery. Authors had curiosities about the unfamiliar places of various regions.
