The Gram-negative bacterium Acidovorax cattleyae is the causal agent of orchid brown spot. The disease is one of the most damaging diseases of Orchid (Cattleya, Cypripedium, Dendrobium, Oncidium and Vanda), resulting in serious losses to orchid production. This bacterium hereby is treated as plant quarantine bacterium in Korea. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of the A. cattleyae ATCC33619. The genome sequenc-ing of A. cattleyae ATCC33619 using the Ion Torrent PGM sequencer with 400 bp read chemistry (Life Technologies). Sequencing was carried out as per the Ion 318 Chip sequencing protocol. This resulted in 1.2 Gbp high-quality filtered reads with an average read length of 259 bp and about 800X coverage. The incomplete draft genome of A. cattleyae ATCC33619 contains 5,728,773 bp (68.4% G+C content), 6,052 predicted coding se-quences, 48 tRNAs and 5 rRNAs loci. Therefore, the genome sequence of a A. cattleyae ATCC33619 provides more information in diagnosis of quaran-tine and exploring the molecular pathogenesis of bacterial brown spot on orchid.
