본 연구는 경제사적 의의가 밝혀지지 않은 68운동, 특히 프랑스 5월 운동의 경제적 영향을 세 영역으로 나누어 분석하였다. 먼저, 화폐금융경제에 변화가 발생하였다. 5월 운동 이후 프랑화에 대한 신뢰도 약화로 평가절하가 예상되며 다수의 민간단기자본이 유출되었고, 이는 프랑스 중앙은행의 금과 외화준비 희생, 긴축정책 시행으로 이어졌다. 둘째, 실물경제에 변화가 발생하였다. 생산이 급감하였고, 생산품 품귀현상과 정세불안으로 소비도 감소하였다. 그러나 화폐금융경제와 실물경제의 회복은 비교적 빨리 이루어졌다. 셋째, 노동정책이 변화하였다. 전방위적 개혁조치로 임금과 노동비용은 가파르게 상승하였고, 노조조직률도 증가하였으며, 노동자의 경영참여도 증가하였다.

The historical significance of the 1968 (or the ‘May 68’ of France) has been ignored. In this study, I analyze its economic impacts on, in turn, 3 aspects. First, there were some changes in the monetary-financial economy. The Central Bank of France sacrificed gold and foreign reserves and adopted a retrenchment policy after spreading the fear of French franc devaluation and the substantial private short-term capital outflows. Second, there occurred some changes in the real economy. Production sharply fell. Consumption also declined because of the shortage of commodities and the unstable market. In hindsight, there was no serious crises and many indices recovered original trend quickly. Third, the labor policy had some important changes. After numerous reforms, wage and labor costs rose, trade union density increased, and the participation in workplace management also improved.
