본 연구는 노인환자에게 유용미생물용액(EM)을 이용한 구강간호를 시행하고 치면세균막 지수, 구취정도 및 구강건강 관련 삶의 질에 미치는 효과를 파악하였다. 대상자는 요양병원에 입원한 노인환자로 실험군 17명, 대조군 17명, 총 34명이었고, 연구기간은 2016년 8월 27일부터 10월 22일까지이었다. 연구결과 구강간호 제공 4주, 8주 후에 실험군과 대조군 간의 치면세균막 지수는 집단 간(F=37.91, p<.001), 측정시점 간(F=33.25, p<.001), 집단과 측정시점 간의 교호작용(F=30.30, p<.001)에서, 구취정도는 집단 간(F=0.82, p=.018), 측정시점 간(F=31.33, p=<.001), 집단과 측정시점 간의 교호작용(F=6.69, p=.003)에서, 구강건강 관련 삶의 질은 집단 간(F=4.79, p=.036), 측정시점 간(F=29.46, p<.001), 집단과 측정시점 간의 교호작용(F=29.98, p<.001)에서 모두 통계적으로 유의하였다. 따라서 구강간호가 노인의 치면세균막 지수, 구취 정도 및 구강건강 관련 삶의 질에 효과가 있음을 확인하였고, 요양기관 입원노인의 구강간호 향상을 위한 간호중재로 적극 활용할 것을 권한다.

This study has tried to find out the effects of oral care with an EM (Effective Micro-organisms) solution for the elderly patients in a convalescent hospital on their dental plaque index, the degree of halitosis, and their quality of life-related with oral health. Research objects were 34 elderly patients in a convalescent hospital in G city with 17 patients of the experimental group and the rest 17 of control group and the study was carried out from August 27 to October 22 in 2016. After 4 weeks and 8 weeks of oral care intervention, the results showed that the dental plaque index, the degree of halitosis and the quality of life was statistically significant differences between groups (F=37.91, p<.001), (F=0.82, p=.018), (F=4.79, p=.036), measurement times (F=33.25, p<.001), (F=31.33, p=<.001), (F=29.46, p<.001), between group and measurement time (F=30.30, p<.001), (F=6.69, p=.003), (F=29.98, p<.001). These research results showed that the oral care with an EM (Effective Micro-organisms) solution for the elderly patients had positive effects on their dental plaque index, the degree of halitosis, and their quality of life related with oral health. Therefore, it is highly recommended to use these research results for the oral health improvement for the elderly patients in convalescent hospitals.
