Retinol is used as a raw material for anti-aging cosmetics because of its superior effects on anti-wrinkle and skin aging. However it is known that retinol is easily decomposed by light and heat and could induce skin irritation. So the stability is the most important property for a functional cosmetic material such as anti-aging products. In addition, the retinol used in the domestic cosmetics industry is entirely supplied from abroad. Thus it is required to develop a cheap and improved synthesis process for retinol derivatives to solve these problems. In this study, retinol derivatives were synthesized from the commercial retinol and characterized by several analyses such as NMR, FT-IR and SEM.
