This thesis aims to investigate the aspect of postcoloniality in Chae Man-sik` novels during the liberation period(1945~1950). The postcoloniality is one of the most important features of his novels because he searchs for possibility of postcoloniality in subaltern`s vision through self-criticsim. The postcoloniality in his novels could be divided into three types. And then I investigate the aspects of postcolonial vision in each type of his novels. Especially, this study accepts ideas of Frantz Fanon who as known as postcolonial thinker and revolutionist and then applies visions of Fanonism to analysis Chae Man-sik`s novels. Firstly, the postcoloniality emerges to satirize lasting colonialism. I aim to investigate how colonialism lasts and how neo-colonial opportunists were born immediately after the liberation. The Policeman Mr. Maeng, The Mr. Bang, The Story about rice-field imply that colonialism lasts in this period, and also satirize the neo-colonial opportunists. And then The Road of history, The Doyazi, show that satire techniques reach the limit. Secondly, the postcoloniality emerges to recognize korean national history and national culture. I focused on his history novels and parody of Korean classics novels in liberation period. Ok-rangsa which means ancestral shrine to admire Ok-rang is story about tragic love in the korean enlighened period. I aims to investigate meaning of descriptive dualistic structure which Ok-rangsa was composed of that. And then I could prove that this structure is related to his history vision. The Life of the woman, history novel series is related to reconstruct of korean enlighened history from subaltern`s vision. At last, The Story of Heo Saeng, The Blind Shim, which are parody of Korean classics novels, is realted to his vision about national culture. This visions is accepted from subaltern`s vision and criticism about modern desire. Thirdly, the postcoloniality emerges to self-criticism and Repatriation novels. The Sunset shows objective self-criticism. and also The Sinner of Nation accomdates overdeterminated Korean nationality in self-criticizing about obedience to Janpanese Empire. And also postcolonial praxis is achieved from future generation. The Boy is growing up has a postnational vision. Especially, The Boy is growing up aims to New-humanism through conflicting between postnational vision and national vision. Therefore, Chae Man-sik appears to search for possibility of indipendent postcoloniality. In conclusion, All about Chae Man-sik`s novels in this period pursue to postcoloniality through various attempts. Threfore It shows postcoloniality to Chae Man-sik`s novels during the libertation period.
