백석은 1930년대에 활약한 한국 시인이다. 본고는 백석 시 전반을 대상으로 하여 그의 시세계를 지배하는 절망의 형이상학을 연구하였다. 이는 크게 세 가지 맥락으로 나누어 이해할 수 있다. 첫째, 백석 시의 절망은 시대적인 맥락과 연관되어 있다. 여승, 정문촌 , 흰 밤 등에 나타난 죽음의 서사에 깃든 절망은 시대적인 비극성을 내포하고 있다. 이 작품들은 원형공동체의 붕괴를 보여준다. 둘째, 백석 시에 나타난 민족적 절망은 개인의 방황과 고뇌로 이어진다. 민족적 절망과 개인적 절망의 연결점 역할을 하는 작품이 북방에서 이며 흰 바람벽이 있어 는 민족의 위기와 연결된 개인적 절망을 보여준다. 셋째, 백석 시의 핵심 시의식은 절망의 승화 과정에 있다. 남신의 주유동박시봉방은 이러한 계열에 놓인다. 내가 생각하는 것은 은 자기 연민에서 자기 긍정으로 향할 수 있는 가능성을 담고 있고, 나와 나타샤와 흰 당나귀 는운명을 수용한 자가 지닌 염세와 희망의 합일을 담고 있다. 이 작품들은 절망을 승화하는 과정을 보여준다.
Baek seok is Korean poet of the 1930s. This manuscript studied meta physics of despair that the Baek seok’s poems at large is governed. This divide into three main sections. First, despair of the Baek seok’s poems are continuous with contempo rary context. Despair appeared in Yeoseung, Jeongmunchon connotes historic tragedy. These works show community breakdown. Second, despair in historicity connect pain and wandering in this poet. The work that is connected by ethnic despair and personal despair is Bukbangeseo . Heen Barambyeoki Iteo shows personal despair in conn ection with national crisis. Third, core poetic awareness of the Baek seok’s poems is in despair o f a poetic narrator. Namsineuijuyudongbaksibongbang Nawa Narasya wa Heen Dangnakwui lie ahead of these contexts. These works show being in the process of sublimating despair
