필자는 청원군[청주시와의 통합 이전]읍면의 법정리 이름을 대상으로,그것이 자연리 이름의 어원을 얼마나 잘 반영하고 있는가에 대해 여러 차례 논의해왔다.본고는 이런 일련의 작업 속에 진행된 결과로,강내면과 오송읍의 9개 법정리 이름을 대상으로 삼았다.법정리를 명명할 때 흔하게 이용되는 방법이 기존자연리 이름을 이용하는 것이다.물론 자연리 이름에는 고유어.혼종어.한자어 등 다양하다.그리고 고유어로 된 자연리 이름을 법정리 이름으로 한역할 때에는 음독법.음차법.훈독법.훈차법 등 차자표기 방식이 적용된다.이 중 음독법이나 훈독법에 의한 방법이 올바른 것임은 주지의 사실이다.그러나 그렇지 못한예가 대부분이다.본고에서는 음차법이나 훈차법에 의해 잘못 한역된 이름을 분석할 것이다.

I continuously discussed whether the names of Chinese-translated village are reflecting the etymology of the names natural village by exemplifying the legally registered villages in Cheongwon-gun (Cheongwon-gun was integrated with Cheongju-si in 2014). The current study discusses the legally registered nine villages in Gangnae-myeon and Osong-eup. However, the most common way of naming the legally registered villages is to use the names of natural villages. Furthermore, in naming villages, I explicated the way of using native words as well as hybrid words, if necessary. When a native tongue of the names of natural village is translated into classical Chinese, the borrowed Chinese character must be used for naming the village. Therefore, it is accurate to read chinese characters by their traditional pronunciation. Along with this perspective, I further analyzed the process of translation into classical Chinese by targeting inaccurate Chinese-translated names.
