빅데이터 처리 기법은 대용량 데이터를 다뤄 온 GIS 분야에서 유용성이 클 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 유용성을 확인하기 위해서는 사례연구를 통해서 빅데이터 기술의 의미와 활용 가능성을 평가해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 웹 지도 서비스 이용자의 관심 대상 지역에 대한 공간 패턴을 분석하는 방법을 제시한다. 본 연구에서 제시한 방법은 빅데이터 플랫폼에 적용되는 MapReduce 프로그래밍 모델에 맞게 간단한 자료 처리 과정을 거치면서도 이용자 관심 대상 지역의 공간 패턴을 효과적으로 표출할 수 있다. 또한 분석 결과에서는 이용자의 관심이 집중되는 지역과 관심을 덜 받는 지역의 공간 패턴을 효과적으로 시각화하고 있다. 본 연구는 빅데이터 처리 기술을 활용하여 공간 패턴 분석 방법을 구현한 사례를 제시한다고 평가할 수 있다.

Big data analysis methods are expected to be very useful in the GIS domain. To confirm usefulness of those methods, it needs to assess the methods using the case studies. This research proposes the case study of using the big data platform to develop the spatial data analysis method, which analyse spatial pattern of the user`s concentration target areas on the web mapping service. The proposed method adopts simple data process procedure, based on the MapReduce, and visualizes the spatial pattern efficiently. The result shows the hotspot and coldspot of the user`s concentration target areas. Then, the proposed method is the spatial big data analysis method based on the MapReduce programming model.
