육교시사(六橋詩社)는 1876년부터 1880년대 중반까지 약 10년간 한양의 육교(청계천 광교)를 중심으로 중인 신분이었던 역관 동인들이 주축이 되어 활동한 시사이다. 육교시사는 그 중요성에 비하여 활동기간, 참여 동인 등에 대한 구체적 실상을 분석한 연구는 다소 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 시사의 핵심인물이었던 강위의 <육교연음집(六橋聯吟集)>을 통하여 육교시사에 참여한 동인, 활동시기 및 활동 공간, 구체적인 활동 상황을 살펴보았다. <육교연음집>은 강위 자신이 육교시사의 동인들과 함께하며 지은 시들을 모은 시집으로, 이를 토대로 분석해보면 육교시사는 시사모임이 75회 이상 이루어졌고, 약 70명의 인원이 참여하였음을 알 수 있다. 육교시사의 동인들은 사행의 송별과 환영, 세시절기의 모임, 경조사 등이 있을 때 청계천 주변에 모여 있던 동인들의 서재에서 수시로 만나 국내외 정세를 고민하며 시를 짓고 동지적 결속을 강화하였다. 이들은 개항 후 전개된 긴박한 시대 상황 속에서 육교시사를 통하여 결집하고 서로의 경험과 정보를 교류하였다. 육교시사의 동인들은 당대의 개화담론을 형성하며, 이를 추진하는 데 중요한 역할을 수행하였다.

‘The group of poets around Cheonggye sixth bridge(六橋詩社)’ lasted for ten years from 1876 to 1884 in the Joseon Dynasty period. This group had quite different characteristics in regard to the composition of it``s members. It was composed of official-interpreters. The detailed studies of this group are insufficient in spite of the importance. The purpose of this study is to research deeply into this group``s members-compostion, literary and political activities, meeting places, etc. Kang Wi was the leader of this group. He put together a collection of literary works, 『The literary collection poems of ‘the Group of poets around Cheonggye sixth bridge’(六橋聯吟集)Yukgyoyeoneumgip』. This literary collection provides us a lot of good information for researching this group. Especially there are the detailed recordings of the group``s meetings in the poems written by Kang Wi. We know the new facts and the literary importance of this group on the basis of this literary collection. This group held literary meetings, more than seventy-five times, the meetings were attended by about seventy people each time. The members had meetings frequently, regular meetings, seasonal customs, member``s family events, etc. Besides they met for business trips to foreign countries to perform official duties. They strengthened their solidarity from these meetings. Above all things, after the business trips, they heard news of foreign countries, and exchanged opinions on international situations. The meetings of this group were progressive spaces in Joseon Dynasty period``s acute situation after opening a port to foreign trade. They had enlightened discussions more than anybody else did at that time. In this respect, the group of poets around Cheonggye sixth bridge during the 19th century of the Joseon Dynasty period was worthy of attention.
