초등학교 문학 수업은 문학을 가르치기 위해 언어기능을 활용하는 `문학을 위한 수업`과 언어기능을 가르치기 위해 문학을 텍스트로 사용하는 `문학을 통한 수업`의 양상으로 나타난다. 모두 문학 수업으로서의 문학 감상과 언어 사용 능력 신장을 동시에 지도하여야 한다. `문학을 위한 수업`이 문학 수업이되 언어 사용과 함께 이루어지듯이, `문학을 통한 수업` 역시 수업의 주안점은 각 수업의 목표가 지향하는 언어를 사용하는 능력의 신장에 두되, 문학 감상이 자연스럽게 이루어지지 않을 수 없기 때문이다. 개정 교육과정의 문학 영역의 `실제`를 보면 `지식`은 <문학의 본질과 속성>, <문학의 양식과 갈래>, <한국 문학의 역사>로, `수용과 생산`은 <내용 이해>, <감상과 비평>, <작품의 창조적 재구성>, <작품 창작>의 내용으로 분류하고 있다. `지식`을 학습 목표로 반영한 수업은 `이해학습`이며 `수용과 생산`을 학습 목표로 반영한 수업은 `적용학습`이다. `지식` 중심의 이해학습에는 문학 지식 습득을 위한 수업과 문학 감상을 위한 방법적 지식을 습득하기 위한 내용으로 구성되어 있다. 문학 수업의 이해학습일 경우 직접 교수법 모형, 지식 탐구 학습 모형과 문제 해결 학습 모형을 적용할 수 있다. `수용과 생산` 중심의 적용학습은 익힌 방법을 적용하여 내용을 이해하고 감상과 비평을 하는 수업이 이루어진다. 적용학습이라고 해서 모두 반응 중심 학습 모형의 절차만을 따르지는 않아야 한다. `가치 탐구학습 모형`, `토의·토론 학습 모형`, `창의성 계발 학습 모형` 등 다양한 모형을 적용하여야 한다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine a type of Literature teaching·learning in Elementary school. It is based on combination of Literature and language skill and `practice` in Literature curriculum. Literature teaching·learning in Elementary school is teaching fiction and teaching through story. We should taught both Literature appreciation and language skill ability extension at teaching fiction and teaching through story. The content of `practice` in Literature curriculum is `knowledge` and `reception and production`. The comprehension instruction is content of `knowledge`. This might include knowledge about strategies, text and about genres. The application instruction is content of `reception and production`. This might include understanding of meaning and Literature appreciation. The comprehension instruction is able to use direct teaching, knowledge study learning, problem solution learning. The application instruction is able to use response center learning, value investigation learning, discussion·debate learning, creation developing learning.
